Public Parks, Trails and Amenities

A variety of public neighbourhood parks, treed boulevards, trails and public amenities all integrating into the existing community are fundamental components of the proposed urban village concept.

The current proposed public parks, trails and amenities redevelopment would:

• feature more than a 100% increase in the Strathearn community's current green space
• provide places and facilities that support a balanced neighbourhood demographic for existing families and future residents
• offer a series of public open spaces that provide opportunities for active and passive activities in formal and informal spaces, including such options as small area pocket parks and medians
• enhance and expand neighbourhood recreation facilities
• enhance the walking experience through the community so it is both safe and beautiful
• retain the existing boulevard trees and include additional rows of trees on existing streets
• incorporate the proposed "Eyes on the Park" concept to ensure buildings front onto the adjacent new streets and parks, to keep a community focus on these spaces
• integrate and connect with greater neighbourhood open spaces
• enhance the community connection to the panoramic view along Strathearn Drive
