Community Recreation Facilities

Community residents have shown interest in how the community hockey rink, the Strathearn Heights Apartments swimming pool and other community recreation facilities will be accommodated within the proposed redevelopment plans.

The owner/developer has made a commitment that redevelopment will not compromise any public facilities in the community. Further, the developer is working hard to enhance the recreational experiences offered through the public amenities.

Specific plans regarding the playground, the community hockey rink and the community league building depend on the location of Silver Heights Park. Discussions are currently underway regarding this part of the proposed redevelopment, and updates will be posted on this page.

There have also been discussions regarding the community's continued use of the outdoor swimming pool currently located near the Strathearn Heights Apartments. The apartment owner installed the current pool for the use of apartment tenants - but invited Strathearn Community League members and community residents to use the pool as well. The City of Edmonton does not support the construction of a new outdoor pool on the community's public parkland because there are existing City-owned pools within reasonable driving distance of Strathearn.
